IT’S OUR TURN NOW!

Since we had our last wage increase in 2007:

  • Station Casinos top insiders got paid more than $660 million in cash by borrowing against the company.
  • The company fired 2,800 workers from 2008 to 2010 to save money, while most of the executives kept their jobs.
  • Now the company is spending millions of dollars on TV attack ads while ignoring our demand for a fair process.

Since 2007,Union casino workers on the Strip:

  • Got total wage increases of $3.08 an hour for non-tipped and $1.51 for tipped.
  • Continue to enjoy the best healthcare plan in Las Vegas with no monthly premium out of their paychecks.
  • Continue to have a pension paid for by their employers.

IT’S OUR TIME NOW! WE DESERVE BETTER!

On Tuesday, April 24th, we broke our historic seven-day fast at Red Rock Casino with a rally full of Local 226 members, community supporters, faith leaders, and, of course, the 17 dedicated fasters from Station Casinos and other union properties. We estimate rally attendance of over 1,000 supporters!

It was a busy seven days at the fast site outside of Palace Station: We were joined throughout the week by our brothers and sisters from other unions and community allies. We were also visited by U.S. Congressman Luis Gutiérrez, California Assemblyman Ricardo Lara, California Assembly Speaker John Perez, Nevada State Senator Ruben Kihuen, Nevada State Assemblyman Richard “Tick” Segerblom, and State Senators Steven Horsford and Sheila Leslie. Religious leaders from all over the Las Vegas community also supported the fasters with their presence and prayers.

If you haven’t done so yet, please show your support for the fasters and their struggle to have a fair process. Send an e-mail to Station Casinos and tell the company to respect the signatures of their employees and treat them with fairness and dignity.

Missed out on all the action? Check out the faster profiles and see pictures from the fast.

Thank you for your support! Together we will achieve justice.

A majority of us at Station Casinos who work in Culinary and Bartenders unions’ classifications have now signed a petition calling for a fair process.

A fair process would let workers make their own decisions as to whether to unionize in a way that is free from management interference, intimidation, bullying, or litigation.

The company has ignored our demand.

Starting on April 18, thirteen of our co-workers will do a 7-day fast outside Palace Station to draw attention to our fight for dignity and respect. They will be joined by union casino workers and members of the Las Vegas clergy.

The fast starts at 10:00 AM on Wednesday (map and schedule). Come to support the fasters!
